LIGHTING PROJECT FAQS

What is the lighting project? Our Trustees approved this project for improved lighting in the sanctuary as part of our 2020-2021 renovations. We’re excited to complete this vision, thanks to your faithfulness and support.

This $500,000 project is funded partially through the Cathedral in the Pines Builders Fund, which has now surpassed $1 million thanks to your generosity. As we aim for a long-term goal of $5 million, we invite those who were unable to contribute during the initial capital campaign to consider giving now, either through a one-time gift or a legacy contribution to your estate planning. Ed Reifenberg is available to assist you with the details.

Is audio in the sanctuary a part of this project? As of right now, the sound system in the sanctuary is not included in this project. The main nave of the sanctuary received a significant upgrade in the first phase of the IMPACT Campaign.

How long is the construction projected to last? Construction in the sanctuary begins Monday, June 2, and is projected to last 7-9 weeks.

Which areas of FUMC’s campus are we to avoid? It is for your safety that the sanctuary remains off-limits during the time of construction. The staging process will entail the use of the breezeway driveway, and that drive-through will remain blocked off as a construction entrance for the duration of the project. Please follow the signage and instructions provided to ensure safety and convenience.

Will there be any changes to the parking arrangements? Our main North and South parking lots will remain open. During the construction period, certain parking areas may be restricted. In this case, please follow the signage and instructions provided for alternative parking options.

Where will worship take place, and how will it differ? We will be worshiping in Fellowship Hall during the construction period. These services will be casual, in that we will not wear robes, coffee and refreshments will be served, and we will take some creative license by offering liturgical services with some additional instruments and parts. You do not want to miss these services!

Will Sunday’s worship services be livestreamed? Currently, we are unable to livestream these services, but we plan to record portions of them for future release.

Can I still watch Sunday’s worship services via WSFA? Yes! However, these services will not be broadcast live. Those who enjoy our worship services via WSFA will be able to view six services of the fourteen, which were preempted last year and not aired. We are excited for the opportunity to air these services! As is sometimes the case, there will still be times when we are pre-empted on WSFA, which is outside of our control.

How can I stay informed on the project’s progress? Regular updates will be shared through the weekly Tower Chimes email and our social media platforms.

Who can I contact for more information or concerns regarding the project? For any questions or concerns, please contact the church office at 334-834-8990. Our staff will be happy to assist you and provide the necessary information.
