DEADLINES

Package A – Requests must be made 3 weeks prior to start of publicity
Package B – Requests must be made 3 weeks prior to start of publicity
Package C – Requests must be made 6 weeks prior to start of publicity
Special Projects* – Requests for special projects must be made at least 8 weeks prior to start of publicity
*Special Projects are those that may require additional time/resources/planning
Graphic Design/Print Requests – Requests must be made at least 2 weeks prior to requested completion date

All requests are subject to approval, and may be modified as necessary.

OTHER REQUESTS/INFORMATION

SUNDAY SCHOOL PACKETS
If the FUMC Communications Department is asked to produce a flier (separate from the weekly SS announcement flier), the request must be made 2 weeks prior to the requested start date.

CHURCH PUBLICATIONS APPROVAL
All staff/lay-produced publications, print and digital, are subject to final approval by the FUMC Director of Communications prior to printing. Requests for approval must be submitted at least 1 week prior to the desired print date.

GRAPHIC DESIGN/PRINT REQUESTS
All graphic design/print requests should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the requested completion date. These requests include, but are not limited to, graphics, postcards, posters, note cards, fliers, etc. If your ministry area is creating a graphic for external use (event, social media, etc.), please submit it for approval 1 week prior to desired date of use.

WEEKLY BULLETIN/INSERT
The weekly bulletin exists to aid in the total worship experience, and to share the cares and concerns of the church. The weekly bulletin insert will feature the 5 most prominent and/or time sensitive events/announcements, determined by the FUMC staff each week, as well as the Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry announcements.

SOCIAL MEDIA
First United Methodist Church maintains an active social media presence, managed by the FUMC Director of Communications. All content is developed and approved within the Communications Department. Should a work area, age-level ministry, or Sunday School class desire to begin their own Facebook page, they must contact the Director of Communications for approval/assistance. The Director of Communications must be granted administrator access on all church-affiliated social media pages.

WEBSITE
No external websites should be created to promote an event/announcement of the church. All FUMC web presence should be maintained on the church website. The church website is managed by the FUMC Director of Communications.

OVERALL COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGY
The FUMC Director of Communications oversees all aspects of the internal/external communications strategies of the church. Should you desire to make any change to an existing platform, contact the Director of Communications for approval/assistance.

Our History

In February 1932 ground breaking for the Education Building at Cloverdale was held. But on November 29, 1932, a terrible gas explosion destroyed the building, killing one and severely injuring another. Rebuilding began, and one year later the first service was held in the new building in the present day chapel.
